Summer Camp Reading (SCR) takes the private nature of personal information
very seriously. This Privacy Policy includes our Children’s Privacy provisions. As
a non-profit, SCR aims to limit the collection of personally identifiable information
about campers and their families and of donors, staff, and other
s who support
and participate in SCR support and activities. We use such information for the
restricted purpose of operating safe and effective reading camps for children and
to encouraging close relationships with our supporters.

Children’s Privacy Policy

This Website is directed in part towards parents or guardians of minors interested
in our camps. Children under 18 years of age may visit or use the Website only
with the express guidance and supervision of a parent or guardian who has
accepted this Privacy Policy on the child’s behalf.  Children under 13 years of
age may only use the website in accordance with our Children’s Privacy Policy.
We do not collect personal information from any child under 13 years of age
without the verified parental consent of their parent or guardian.  If you provide
any personal information about a child under 13 years of age. you expressly
represent that you are the parent or guardian of the child and have the right to
provide it.  If you believe we might have any information collected from a child
under 13 years of age in violation of our Children’s Privacy Policy, please contact
us through the Contact Us button.


Information We Collect

Website User Data

We receive registration information about students who enroll in our reading
camps, but not through this Website. We keep registration
information for the
purposes of operating our camps in a safe and responsible manner and to
maintaining relationships with parent and families before and after graduation
from camps.

 

Financial Data

We do not collect financial information from parents or children interested in our
camps. Financial information about staff is limited to the purposes of their
services provided as contractors with SCR. Financial information received from
donors is limited to information apparent from how donations are made to us
through the Diocese of Southern Ohio, our fiscal agent. We use address and
other such non-sensitive personal information about staff, donors, and others
who contact us to stay in touch, express appreciation, and otherwise provide
information related to SCR. We do not share personal information about staff or
donors that is provided by them to us with third parties without their express
permission.  

Website Access Information

We do not use cookies or other technology to collect information about Website
visitors.

Camper Information
We ask on hard copy camper registration forms for information needed while
children attend our camps, such as emergency health notification and allergy
information. We do not post such information on our Website and do not digitize
or keep such information in a way that would make its disclosure a hacking risk.


How We Use Your Information

We use personal information provided to us to operate safe and effective reading
camps. We collect test results of campers to measure the effectiveness of our
efforts. Test results of individual campers are not shared publicly. We aggregate
the test results of all campers without identifying any individuals’ results and
report these in an annual report. We may disclose non-personally identifiable
aggregated information about our users without restriction. Through express
permission granted by parents or guardians in registering children for camp, we
reserve the right to use photographs and other media about the camp experience
for the Website and in other materials used to spread the word about SCR and to
encourage other communities to form their own summer reading camps to
increase childhood literacy.


How We Share your Information
 

SCR shares personal information about campers with staff and volunteers at
sites they attend for purposes related only to the safe and efficient operation of
the camps and the education of campers.


Other than with our contracted staff or as described above, we disclose
personally identifiable information only when required to do so by law, or when
we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the
interests of campers or persons interested in enrolling their children in our
camps.

We may disclose your personally identifiable information if you expressly consent
to the disclosure, such as in providing a testimonial or providing public comment
about SCR.


Your Access to and Control Over your Information

We do not seek personal information from you through this Website. We use
hard copy registration forms regarding camper enrollment. We keep donor
information securely, in tandem with the Diocese of Southern Ohio, our fiscal
agent. If you wish that we restrict such information beyond the reasonable
measures we take to safeguard such information, you may ask us to delete any
personal information we have collected about you, so long as we are not required
by law to maintain it for a period of time. Please notify us if you believe we have
incorrect information about you, which we urge you to correct or update so our
information is accurate. We may not accommodate a request to change
information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement
or cause the information to be incorrect.

Although changes are likely to be minor, SCR may change its Privacy Policy. We
will post an updated policy on the Website.  Use of information we collect now is
